Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you accept at Unity Childcare?

We welcome children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our rooms are carefully designed for each age group — from babies just starting to explore, to preschoolers preparing for big school.

Do you offer the 30 hours free childcare scheme?

Yes! We offer both 15 and 30 hours funded childcare for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds. If you’re not sure what you’re entitled to, we’re happy to help guide you through the application process.

What are your opening hours?

Our nursery is open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm, providing flexibility for working parents. We’re open all year round, except for bank holidays and Christmas closure.

How do I register my child at your nursery?

It’s simple. Just fill out our enquiry form or give us a call to arrange a visit. Once you’ve seen the nursery and are happy to proceed, we’ll guide you through the registration and settling-in process.

Are meals and snacks provided?

Yes, we provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day for a sustainability charge. Our meals are freshly prepared and cater for a range of dietary needs and allergies.

What does a typical day look like for the children?

Every day includes a mix of structured learning, free play, outdoor time, meals, and rest. We follow the EYFS curriculum to support your child’s development, while also making sure they have plenty of fun.

How do you help new children settle in?

We offer flexible settling-in sessions tailored to each child and family. These short visits help your child get used to the space, staff, and routines — so that by the time they start fully, it already feels familiar.

What qualifications do your staff have?

All our team members are qualified in Early Years, with most holding Level 3 or above, including PGCE teacher status. They’re also trained in paediatric first aid, safeguarding, and child development. Your child is in safe, experienced hands.

Do you support children with allergies or medical needs?

Absolutely. We work closely with families to ensure individual care plans are in place for any allergies or medical conditions. Our staff are trained in administering medication and emergency response.
